While searching around the net after doing the review on the Alinco DJ-VX50T, (Here in case you missed it), one of the things I tend to do with my radios is unlock the expanded frequencies or MARS MOD as more commonly known.

The issue with the Alinco DJ-VX50 is there is not one CPS (Customer Programming Software) that is used across all of the models so if you have say a US version DJ-VX50T that is locked to the US HAM bands then you need the CPS for the HT extension for example “DJ-VX50HT_vx.x.x.exe”. This is the one provided by Alinco and their partners when you buy this radios programming cable (With the exception of RT Systems). So if you unlock your radio then you can no longer program via the CPS and you will get the error below if you try:

Because of this if you modify your transmit to the EX version you can no longer use the CPS to edit your channels. You have two options at this point, do not expand your transmit or find the software that will work with the EX version. Well after much searching I did just that. I found what regions supported the EX version of the Alinco DJ-VX50 series and finally came across a Czech site (https://elix.cz/) and in the notes they had a link to the software. After running it through a malware check and then executing it I finally had the EX version where I could now edit my codeplug for the expanded transmit frequencies.

We can now edit as needed and no more error!

You can download the files from below:

  1. Not sure how or where to send this to, but this is the utility for upgrading the firmware on the Ailunce HA1G. It also includes instructions on how to unlock the radio for transmit in the ham bands. I got the utility from KD5FMU (http://hamradiolife.org/software1.htm) and ran the Chinese instructions through Google Translate, then cleaned up the resulting English. I don’t have this radio, but I do want to buy a couple. Let me know how it works!
