If you’ve ever worried about losing access to the internet during a storm, power outage, or worse, you already know how valuable real, offline knowledge can be. That’s exactly why I built PrepperPi — a compact, Raspberry Pi-powered offline server that turns any phone, tablet, or laptop into a full survival reference library with zero internet or cellular connection required.
Just connect to the PrepperPi Wi-Fi network, open your browser, and you’re instantly inside a complete offline encyclopedia packed with medical guides, repair manuals, survival skills, and more.
What PrepperPi Is Right Now
PrepperPi runs on a small Raspberry Pi and uses ZIM files (the standard for offline Wikipedia-style archives) served through Kiwix software. The entire library lives on the Pi — no cloud, no data plan, no external power beyond a battery bank or solar setup.
Here’s what’s already inside:
– WikiMed Medical Encyclopedia – The largest offline medical reference from Wikipedia (cancer care, children’s health,
ears/nose/throat, and hundreds of other critical topics).
– Best of Wikipedia – The top 50,000 highest-quality articles, hand-selected for usefulness.
– iFixit Repair Manuals – Step-by-step guides to fix almost anything (electronics, appliances, vehicles — you name it).
– U.S. Army Survival Series – Full field manuals on shelter-building, tactics, nuclear-blast survival, lean-tos, bunkers,
and more (73 books and counting).
– Dedicated sections for First Aid, Food & Water (growing, preserving, purifying), and Survival
(field craft, emergency skills).
Everything is fast, searchable, and works completely offline.
